What is it
UK-REACH is the UK’s chemicals regulatory framework which  started on 1 January 2021.

The UK Government has said that UK REACH will maintain EU REACH’s aims and principles which include the “no data, no market” principle.

Where does it apply
Manufacturers and importers have a duty to register chemicals for access to the UK market.

GB-based companies currently registered with EU REACH will no longer be able to sell into the EEA market without transferring their registrations to an EU/EEA-based organisation.

How can it affect you
Anyone making, selling or distributing chemicals in the UK and the EU needs to follow UK REACH and EU REACH rules.

What you need to do depends on your role(s) in the EU and UK REACH, and your current supply chains. You may need to take certain actions to maintain access both the EU and UK markets, especially in relation to registration.

However, under the Northern Ireland Protocol, the process for Northern Ireland businesses moving goods to and from the European Union under EU REACH will not change from 1 January 2021.

The UK operates its own UK REACH IT system “Comply with UK-REACH” from 1 January 2021.

We will review with you your supply chains in respect of both the UK and EU markets, as well as how your business plans may affect this. We determine your obligations under UK and EU REACH, compare this what is currently in place and develop an action plan.

If needed we can offer you Only Representative services under UK-REACH.

The UK service ‘Comply with UK REACH’ has started  on 1 January 2021. We have been involved in the testing of earlier versions of the system. Although it will be developed further, we have experience with operating all main functionalities which are required today, thus handling whatever your role in the supply chain requires today.
